The Galapagos, Ecuador (day 3)

This morning started out with a panga ride along the coast near Tagus Cove, followed by a 1 hour hike up to Darwin's Crater, a salt-water lake located up above Tagus cove. The views were excellent, and in the distance you could see many of the other volcanoes. My favorite part of this hike was actually getting to see numerous types of Darwin finches! Very cool.

Afterward, we had an hour of snorkeling, this time in deeper waters near a cliff that plunges into the water. Many of the same fish were around, but this time the highlights were swimming with a small (and supposedly not dangerous!) shark and penguins!!!! There were also a few more turtles, and one let me swim along 2 feet above it for a few minutes. : )

The afternoon plan was a short walk on a small beach where we found a very large tortoise & land iguana. More tomorrow, including the Giant Tortoise Reserve!

Location:Tagus Cove & Urbina Bay, both on Isabela Island

Location:Isabela Island
